Two nationally known journalists will spaeak in this convention which is sponsored by Kansas Press Association. Bill Buzenberg, the executive director of the Center for Public Integrity will discuss on the critical needs for the public to hear from diverse sources of information. Bob Dotson of NBC News will be the speaker for the University of Kansas Editor's Day. The Kansas Press Association has recently been going through a financial crime which is the result of the alleged financial mismanagement of the press association.
The President of the Kansas Press Association John D. Montgomery told the member of the association that after an audit of the week by the Topeka accounting firm, it appears that the organization had lost about $119,500 from the the President believes to be the misappropriation of the Kansas Press Association fund. Montgomery who is also the editor and publisher of the Hays Daily News, said that the investigation has revealed that the misappropriation included the personal use of company credit cards, cheques and other unauthorized expenditure. One of them being the personal use of the company's vehicle. He also declared that KPA has sufficient liquid cash that can control this storm.
