Established in the year 1865, the University of Kansas has its main campus in Mount Oread. According to the records there are around 21,912 undergraduate student in the university and around 5,963 students in the post graduate level. There are around 5,500 staff members also in the college. The University is situated on 1000 acres of land and has a beautiful surrounding as well. Other than the Lawrence Campus, there is the KU Edwards Campus which is located in Overland Park, KU Medical Center and Hospital located in Kansas City, and the Wichita Campus.
There are various other institutes which are also situated here. These includes Beach Center on Disability and the Robert J. Dole Institute of Politics. The university also supports various museums including the Spencer Museum Of Art, University of Kansas Natural History Museum and KU Museum of Anthropology.
A very important part of University of Kansas is the University of Kansas School of Law. This is situated in the Lawrence Campus and is one of the major law schools of USA. The University of Kansas Medical College has four sub divisions which includes School of Nursing, KU School of Medicine, School of Allied Health and School of Graduate Studies.
Some of the important faculty members of the University of Kansas include John Bricke, Bryant C Freeman, George Coggins, Jeffrey Lang, Stanley Lombardo, David S Holmes, Kevin Willmott and many others. All these are famous faculty members of the university as well. The Nobel Prize winner for Economics in the year 2002, Vernon L. Smith is a distinguished alumni of this organization.
There are various student activities which are held in University of Kansas. The university has constructed a new baseball scoreboard and batting facility in the field, women's basketball has also gained a lot of popularity here. The university is also arranging for a football ground for the students as well.
